Andrew's 50th

Saturday 13 – Thursday 18 February

Rome to Venice on the Orient Express

Fifty friends, three cities, one Orient Express — and not a single thing for you to arrange. Every night, every party and every meal, handled. Just turn up.

A note from Andrew

For my 40th, I took forty of my closest friends to Islay — the magical little Scottish island where the finest whisky in the world is produced. It was, by some distance, one of the most special things any of us had ever been part of, up to that point in our lives.

That was ten years ago. Where does the time go? But it set the bar — and the obvious question was this:

How on earth do you raise the stakes for your 50th?

Here is my answer. You invite fifty of your favourite people on earth to the mother of all parties: a once-in-a-lifetime adventure on the Orient Express from Rome to Venice, with four of the world's most famous DJs playing exclusively for us, in the most extraordinary, glamorous spaces on earth — all while being pummelled with champagne and attacked with Michelin-star cuisine at every turn.

I'd love you to come and help me celebrate making it this far. And if we're still speaking in ten years, the question is: how do you top this? I have some ideas. LOL

See you in Rome — Andrew

Arrival · The Gala

The 50th Birthday Banquet

Check in to your suite at Orient Express La Minerva, then a formal gala dinner — live jazz band, string quartet and a Frank Sinatra tribute — with private-hire access to the hotel's speakeasy until the small hours.

Arrive into Rome and settle into your suite at Orient Express La Minerva, steps from the Pantheon and your home for the first two nights. In the evening we gather for the birthday banquet — champagne, one long candlelit table, and rather too many courses, with a live jazz band, a string quartet and a Frank Sinatra tribute singer playing through the night.

When dinner winds down, we have private-hire access to the hotel's luxurious speakeasy — ours until the small hours. A gentle, glittering start to the week.

Two nights in Rome included · Dress: formal, black-tie territory · Champagne reception from 19:00

Wake to breakfast in bed as the train glides into Venice, then arrive at Orient Express Venezia, Palazzo Donà Giovannelli, by private water taxi and check in to your suite for the next two nights.

That night, the finale: a private masked ball on the Grand Canal — my Venice birthday party. Your costume is provided on arrival; just turn up and let your hair down.

A day in Venice

Venice, at your own pace

A free day in the palazzo and the city — recover, wander, and stay a second night on the Grand Canal.

No fixed programme. Sleep in, take a long breakfast, and let Venice do the rest — the Grand Canal, a quiet campo, an unhurried lunch. Your suite at the palazzo is yours for a second night.

Gather with the group in the evening if you'd like, or disappear into the city. Entirely up to you.
